The City of Fort Worth has put a $352,570,500 price on Phase 2 of its convention center project, and the design team is already named. For architects, engineers and trade contractors, the state filing sizes the next package.

Why it matters

A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Texas Accessibility Standards (TABS) registration is the state’s primary record of a planned project’s owner, cost and schedule. This one, project TABS2027003148, was registered on Oct. 8, 2026 for the Fort Worth Convention Center at 1201 Houston Street.

The owner is the City of Fort Worth, with the owner address listed at 200 Texas Street. The record marks the work as involving public funds and public land. Bennett Partners is the registered design firm.

For subcontractors, that means a public owner and a named designer, which is the usual starting point for tracking bid packages. The registration names no general contractor.

The numbers

  • Cost: $352,570,500
  • Area: 742,118 sq ft
  • Scope: a new 3-story addition with exhibit hall expansions and meeting room additions, plus a 3-story renovation of the existing meeting rooms
  • Type of work: renovation and alteration
  • Stated start: Jan. 17, 2026
  • Stated completion: Dec. 31, 2029

The start date is earlier than the registration date. The filing came about nine months after the stated start, so the date may reflect an early phase, a placeholder or work already under way. The record does not say which.

The schedule runs about four years from the stated start to completion.

What’s next

The record is silent on bid dates, a delivery method and a general contractor, so we cannot say which trade packages are still open. Contractors who want in should ask the city’s purchasing office and Bennett Partners directly, and watch for amendments to the registration.

TDLR requires an accessibility inspection after construction ends, so the registration will eventually carry inspection records too. We will track updates to the filing.
