Six-Story 'Great Blue' Senior Project Proposed in Riviera Beach

A six-story, 140-unit senior building called Great Blue has been proposed for the southeast side of 1001 Wedgewood Plaza Drive in Riviera Beach, one of the first assisted living projects filed under Florida’s Live Local Act in Palm Beach County, according to Florida YIMBY. The filing is routed through Catapult LLC, a single-purpose entity with no other public Palm Beach County project on record, working with an affiliate of the Sun Foundation, a Florida nonprofit affordable housing organization.

Great Blue would total 171,182 square feet across six stories, with 140 one-bedroom, one-bathroom units and 112 parking spaces. Fifty-six units are reserved for seniors earning up to 30 percent of area median income, about $27,000 a year, and 84 units for seniors earning up to 80 percent of AMI, about $71,950 a year, against Palm Beach County’s $107,600 median. The project carries an estimated $60 million construction cost.

What’s next

Because Great Blue is filed under the Live Local Act, Riviera Beach reviews it administratively rather than sending it through a rezoning hearing, though the city has not yet published a decision timeline. Meals will run through GL Food Services, and architectural renderings credit Spalding Design Group.
