Broward County’s West Copans Rehabilitation and Redevelopment Project is still the only public solicitation on our South Florida RFP wire, and it is worth a second look now that the clock has moved inside eight weeks. The county wants to rebuild Broward County Transit’s 27-acre bus operations campus at 3201 W. Copans Road in Pompano Beach, and the posting, listed as Opportunity 243763 on the county’s Bonfire procurement portal, sets responses due Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Why it matters

Bid activity across the region is thin right now, a pattern our Miami pipeline tracking has flagged for weeks, which makes a live, dated county solicitation worth flagging twice. Broward signaled early how it intends to deliver this job: a Sept. 5, 2025 market sounding day was framed around a Managing General Contractor or Construction Manager at Risk approach, the delivery model where a firm’s qualifications and preconstruction team decide the award, not the lowest number on a bid day. A GC or CM weighing whether to chase this should read the Oct. 30 deadline as a qualifications-and-approach submission, not a lump-sum bid opening.

The numbers

Issuing agency: Broward County, through FASD Purchasing on behalf of the Transportation Department. Site: 3201 W. Copans Road, Pompano Beach, Broward County Transit’s existing 27-acre bus campus. Scope: a roughly 200,000-square-foot maintenance facility built for electric buses with rooftop solar, plus a 16,900-square-foot training center with driving simulators. Response deadline: Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. Eastern. Solicitation number, pre-bid or pre-submittal meeting date and estimated contract value are not disclosed on the public notice as of this writing; firms need to register on Broward’s BPRO Bonfire portal under Opportunity 243763 to pull the current document set and any addenda.

What’s next

Nothing else has cleared our RFP wire this cycle, county or municipal, which keeps West Copans the only bid-track item worth planning around in South Florida right now. Watch Bonfire’s Opportunity 243763 page directly for an addendum naming a pre-bid or pre-submittal meeting date, since none has posted publicly yet, and treat Oct. 30 as the date that matters until the county says otherwise.
