Terrell, Mesquite ISDs register $201M of high school work
Terrell ISD ($99.4M) and Mesquite ISD ($101.9M across two campuses) registered $201.3M of high school projects with TDLR from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1.
Two school districts east of Dallas registered three high school projects with the state in the past week. Terrell ISD in Kaufman County listed $99,410,000, and Mesquite ISD in Dallas County listed a combined $101,901,468. That is $201,311,468 of planned work.
Why it matters
Public school work is a steady line for general contractors and subs outside the data center and warehouse cycle. Terrell lists a start date of Oct. 5, 2026, four days after registering, so its trade packages are the nearest in time. Mesquite lists May 1, 2027, which leaves months to qualify and bid.
For Dallas-Fort Worth builders, the contrast is useful. Our data center pipeline count is driven by private capital. These are public-funds projects, per the registrations, with a different bidding path.
The numbers
Each figure is the owner’s declared estimate on a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation accessibility registration, not a contract price. We count each project once.
- Terrell ISD, High School Addition Renovation / Ag Barn, 400 Poetry Road, Terrell: $99,410,000, registered Oct. 1, 2026. The scope text lists an 80,000 sq ft addition, 31,806 sq ft of renovation and a 30,000 sq ft ag barn. Design firm: VLK.
- Mesquite ISD, Mesquite High School, 300 Davis St., Mesquite: $51,977,579, registered Sept. 30, 2026. Scope includes a storm shelter addition and a relocated front entry.
- Mesquite ISD, Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Dr., Mesquite: $49,923,889, registered Sept. 30, 2026. Scope includes a storm shelter addition and demolition of portable buildings. Both Mesquite projects use design firm Glenn|Partners.
Both Mesquite registrations list 5,000 sq ft, which sits oddly against roughly $50M each. We report it as filed.
What’s next
These are registrations of planned work. The records do not name a funding source beyond public funds, and they do not show bids or awards. Registration also sets up a later accessibility inspection after completion.
Watch each district’s procurement notices for packages. Terrell’s listed start date is the first test of whether work begins on schedule.
