Corrections policy
We get things right, and when we don't, we fix them in the open.
Accuracy is the product. When we learn that a published article contains an error of fact, we correct it promptly.
How we correct
We fix the error in the article itself and append a dated correction note to that article, describing what changed. We do not quietly edit the record. Substantive corrections update the article's modified date.
What counts as a correction
Errors of fact — a wrong figure, name, date, location, or characterization — are corrected. Clarifications that add missing context are noted where they materially change how a story reads. Typographical fixes are made without a note.
Request a correction
If you believe an article is wrong, contact the newsroom. Please include the article's URL and the specific fact in question, with a source where possible. We review every request and respond.
Oversight
Corrections are overseen by JR Stewart, Editorial Overseer. Read how we source and verify in our methodology.
