Amazon registers $100M, 1.2M sq ft Austin manufacturing plant
The filing lists a Nov. 16 start and sits in the same ZIP code as the Dog's Head site Amazon picked in August.
Amazon.com Services LLC registered a $100,000,000 advanced manufacturing building at 475 Patton Ave in Southeast Austin with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) on Oct. 19, 2026. The filing lists 1,200,000 sq ft in one building.
Why it matters
In August, Amazon announced a robotics manufacturing plant on about 300 acres of the Dog’s Head site, off Hergotz and Dalton lanes in the same 78742 ZIP code. The company disclosed no square footage or investment figure at the time. The TABS record names neither Dog’s Head nor robotics, so the link between the two filings is not confirmed. If it is the same plant, this is its first public cost and size. For Southeast Austin contractors and suppliers, a 1.2M sq ft build set to start next month is a near-term bid window.
The numbers
- Estimated cost: $100.0M, per TABS2027003891
- Size: 1,200,000 sq ft, one building
- Areas: office, factory, casting and central utility plant
- Estimated start: Nov. 16, 2026
- Estimated completion: July 13, 2027
- Design firm: WSP USA
- Funding: private, on private land
What’s next
The registered scope is civil site work and a core-and-shell building, so the $100.0M does not cover interior fit-out or equipment. City of Austin site-plan and building-permit filings are the next public checkpoint. No job count or opening date appears on the record. The estimated July 13, 2027 completion lines up with the late-2027 opening Amazon gave for its robotics plant in August. A city site plan naming the parcel would settle whether the two are the same project.
