Houston plat docket Oct. 15: 5 general plans among 92 items

The posted docket names plats, not applicants or acreage, so the land-use signal sits in the plat names and request types.

The City of Houston’s draft agenda for the Planning Commission meeting on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, lists 92 plat items, five of them general plans for large tracts. The commission meets at 2:30 p.m. CT at the City Hall Annex, 900 Bagby St. The city calls the outline preliminary; the official agenda posts 72 hours before the meeting, so everything below is proposed.

Why it matters

Houston has no zoning. A plat under Chapter 42 is the city’s land-use record, and the commission’s own notice says its platting authority “does not extend to land use.” It must approve plats that meet the rules, so the docket shows what is being subdivided, not what will be allowed to go there.

The general plans (GP) are the signal for developers. The draft lists McHard Industrial GP, Riley Fuzzel Industrial Development GP, Sheldon Ridge GP, Benders Creek GP and Gardenlight City Place GP. Two carry “Industrial” in the name. Gardenlight City Place is the only project with a GP and three sections (Secs 1 to 3) together in the variance group, items 81 to 84.

The draft does not list applicants, acreage or street locations. Names such as Katy Hockley Center and Cypress Trails at Bauer Landing Sec 2 hint at place, but the document does not say whether a tract sits inside city limits or in the extraterritorial jurisdiction. Public Storage Katy Clay Road (item 20) is the one national brand in the consent list. See our Houston hub and the Harris County data center authority item set for the same week.

The numbers

Group Items Record
Consent plats 35 (items 1 to 35) Draft agenda, section A
Replats 31 (36 to 66) Section B
Replats with public hearing 11 (67 to 77) Section C
Plats with variance requests 8 (78 to 85) Section D
Extensions of approval 4 (86 to 89) Section G
Development plats with variance 3 (90 to 92) Section K

Thirteen carry a deferral mark, including Pineland Distribution Center (item 19, second deferral) and McHard Industrial GP (item 15). Sheldon Ridge has three items (23 to 25), and Gardenlight City Place four.

What’s next

The commission votes Oct. 15 on the final agenda. Any consent item the commission does not act on within 30 days is deemed approved. A separate list sets a Nov. 12, 2026 public hearing date for eight plats, including Montrose Residences and Wheeler Residences. We will check the final packet for applicants and acreage.
