Eli Lilly Files $60.2M Lab, Admin Building at Houston Campus
The state filing covers a standalone lab and office building in the same 77044 corridor as Lilly's $6.5 billion Generation Park plant.
Eli Lilly and Company has registered a $60.2 million laboratory and administration building at its Houston campus, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing dated Oct. 26. The 181,865 sq ft building will rise at 12550 Timber Forest Drive in Harris County. That puts it in the same 77044 corridor as Lilly’s $6.5 billion manufacturing plant, which broke ground five weeks earlier in McCord Development’s Generation Park. The filing covers only the exterior shell; the interior build-out will be registered separately.
Why it matters
This is the first state filing to show Lilly building more than the single manufacturing plant it announced in September. A lab and office building, already assigned a design firm, means operating and staff space is being designed alongside production capacity. For contractors and subcontractors on the Generation Park corridor, a second Lilly building with a two-year schedule extends the work pipeline on one owner’s site.
The numbers
- $60,223,387 estimated cost
- 181,865 sq ft, laboratory and administration building
- Registered Oct. 26, 2026; construction estimated to start Nov. 2, 2026
- Estimated completion Nov. 6, 2028
- Design firm: Energy Architecture, Houston
What’s next
The TDLR registration covers only the exterior shell. Lilly has not yet filed the interior build-out registration that would show how the lab and office space will be fitted out. That filing is the next marker of how far the company’s Houston footprint grows beyond the $6.5 billion manufacturing plant it broke ground on in September. Watch the TABS registry and Harris County permit records for the interior filing, and for any further Lilly buildings on the campus.
