Out to Bid: FLL's $802M Terminal, Four Pompano Beach Sites
What cleared this week for South Florida builders, subs and small contractors, straight from the agendas.
Six items clear South Florida agendas this week and next with real scope and real dollars attached, from a $399 million funding jump on Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s Terminal 5 to four Pompano Beach CRA and site-plan actions. Three are contracts a GC already won and now needs subs for. Three are projects still short a general contractor.
Why it matters
A contract award tells a sub who is mobilizing now. An approvals hearing tells a GC a job is not staffed yet and worth a call. Both showed up this week. Broward’s Sept. 22 agenda has the Aviation Department awarding three civil contracts at FLL and HWO totaling $42.8 million, plus a near-doubling of the funding cap on JetBlue’s Terminal 5 deal. Pompano Beach’s CRA and Development Review Committee, both meeting this week, carry four items ranging from a stalled townhome project restarting under a hard 2027 deadline to two buildouts still needing contractors.
The numbers
- FLL: Central Civil Construction Co. awarded $20,338,728 for Taxilane ADG III Westside (Taxilane D), Bid No. PNC2131441C1. Broward County Commission, Sept. 22.
- FLL and HWO: FG Construction LLC awarded an open-end Annual Civil Repairs and Maintenance contract, $12,181,900 in year one and up to $36,545,700 over three years, Bid No. PNC2131233B1. Broward County Commission, Sept. 22.
- FLL: Ranger Construction Industries Inc. awarded $10,288,888 for Taxilane T Rehabilitation, Bid No. PNC2132049C1. Broward County Commission, Sept. 22.
- FLL: JetBlue’s Terminal 5 construction management deal grows $398,954,000 to a new $802,394,000 not-to-exceed total, completion due within 1,277 days of the third Notice to Proceed. Broward County Commission, Sept. 22.
- Pompano Beach: Solstice Townhomes LLC, land on North Dixie Highway between NW 15th Court and NW 15th Place, construction 90 percent complete, disposition agreement reinstated with a completion deadline of June 30, 2027. CRA board, Sept. 15.
- Pompano Beach: SL 1241-1251 N Dixie LLC and Old Town Center LLC, two CRA grants covering roughly $565,000 combined in renovation work (windows, signage, parking, plumbing, electrical, framing) at 1241-1251 N Dixie Highway and 120-122 N Flagler Avenue. CRA board, Sept. 15.
- Pompano Beach: a minor site plan for a multifamily project at 3214 SE 11th Street, owner SE 11th Street Pompano PJ LLC, zoned RM-20. Development Review Committee, Sept. 16.
What’s next
Subs chasing FLL work should register with Central Civil, FG Construction and Ranger now, before mobilization fills. The Terminal 5 jump signals more packages coming regardless of who holds the prime. In Pompano Beach, Solstice Townhomes’ 2027 deadline is a closeout window for finish trades, and the two CRA buildouts move to construction once grants execute. Our South Florida approvals tracking updates as each board acts.
