A $29.0 million City of Chicago permit covers the initial buildout of three contiguous office floors at 333 W. Wolf Point Plz., the Hines-developed tower known as Salesforce Tower Chicago. Permit #101089193, issued Oct. 8, covers 56,721 square feet of commercial office space across the 19th, 20th and 21st floors, and references an earlier permit, #101085470, at the same address.

The tower is the final building in the three-tower Wolf Point masterplan along the Chicago River, developed by Hines on the site long held by the Kennedy family. YIMBY Chicago has covered the project’s progress toward completion as the masterplan’s last piece. The permit record does not name the specific tenant taking the three floors.

Why it matters

A 56,721-square-foot, three-floor buildout is a sizable commitment inside a 1.2 million-square-foot tower still leasing up, and it is a useful signal for the construction trade and for office brokers watching whether large blocks of space in Chicago’s newest downtown towers are filling in. For general contractors and finish-trade subcontractors, a multi-floor buildout referencing a prior permit at the same address points to phased construction work continuing well after a tower’s shell is complete.
