Block 58 LLC has registered a $5.7 million interior build-out for a project named A5 Steakhouse inside Texas Tower at 845 Texas Ave. in downtown Houston, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Architectural Barriers filing made public Oct. 21, 2026.

Why it matters

The filing covers Suite 125 of Texas Tower and lists Block 58 LLC, with contact John Mooz, as the registered owner. No contractor is named yet, and the tenant and design firm are both listed as “not assigned,” which means the project is early in procurement even though the dollar figure and construction timeline are already locked in. For contractors and subcontractors bidding downtown Houston retail and restaurant work, that gap between a filed cost and an unassigned general contractor is the thing to watch: the scope and budget are set, the GC award is not. For developers and landlords tracking how downtown towers backfill ground-floor and lower-podium retail, a $5.7 million commitment to a single restaurant suite is a read on how much a trophy downtown address can still command from a premium food and beverage tenant.

The numbers

The TDLR record puts the renovation at 6,582 sq ft of existing interior shell space, privately funded, with a start date the filing lists as Jan. 8, 2026 and a targeted completion of May 28, 2027. Robert W. Green (RAS #1157) is the registered accessibility specialist on the project. No press release, restaurant-industry announcement, or trade coverage names an operator or chef behind the “A5 Steakhouse” concept; the TDLR filing is the only public record of the project found to date.

What’s next

With the registration dated Oct. 21, 2026 and a completion target of May 28, 2027, A5 Steakhouse is still at least several months from an opening date, and no contractor has been assigned to the job. The project adds to the mix of hospitality and retail build-outs inside downtown Houston’s office towers tracked on the market’s Houston coverage. The next verifiable facts in this project’s record will be a general-contractor assignment on the TDLR filing and any operator announcement.
