Carrier Global Corp. said Oct. 22, 2026, that it will invest more than $600 million over three years in a new advanced manufacturing and engineering center in Fort Worth, with operations beginning in 2027. The company’s release ties the project to AllianceTexas and describes a building of more than 1 million sq ft.

We reported this building Oct. 15 from a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, TABS2027003539, titled “Project Jay - Carrier.” That record put a $500 million renovation at 1501 Distribution Drive, Fort Worth, inside Hillwood’s Alliance Westport 12 building. It did not name an occupant, so we did not confirm Carrier as the user. Carrier’s announcement is the first confirmation that it is the occupant. It is also the first jobs figure attached to the site: 1,500 positions.

Why it matters

A renovation filing with no named user is a bid package, not a committed operation. Carrier’s release converts it into a fixed customer with a production target: expanded U.S. output of air- and water-cooled commercial chillers for data centers, healthcare, education and industrial customers.

That matters for the trades bidding the Hillwood retrofit. A named, publicly traded occupant with a three-year capital commitment is a different credit story for subcontractors and suppliers than an unnamed tenant on a state registration. Carrier Chairman and CEO David Gitlin said the investment “reflects the strong demand we are securing for high-performance, energy-efficient solutions.”

The numbers

  • Investment: More than $600 million over three years, per Carrier’s release, above the $500 million estimated cost on the TDLR filing we reported in October.
  • Jobs: 1,500 positions in advanced manufacturing, engineering and other roles, a figure the TDLR record does not carry.
  • Building: More than 1 million sq ft, at AllianceTexas, per Carrier’s release.
  • Timing: Operations expected to begin in 2027, consistent with the TDLR filing’s Sept. 1, 2027 completion date for the 600,000 sq ft work area.

The $600 million figure covers Carrier’s broader capital program at the site over three years. The $500 million TDLR estimate is the construction cost of the retrofit itself. The two numbers describe overlapping but not identical scopes, and neither record states the other.

What’s next

Carrier’s release names engineering labs and workforce partnerships with local schools and colleges, and says the company plans to pursue LEED certification for the facility. None of that appears in the TDLR filing, which only covers the demolition and upgrade scope Hillwood registered.

Fort Worth permit records for 1501 Distribution Drive should confirm the general contractor and scope once building permits are pulled against the TDLR registration.
