Equinix Draws $80.9M in San Jose Data Center Permits in October

San Jose issued three permits in October for an Equinix data center at 123 Great Oaks Boulevard, with a combined declared cost of $80.9 million. Equinix Hyperscale (2SV12) LLC is listed as the owner on each. The largest, 2024-108710-CI, was issued October 8 at $48.4 million for tenant improvements to the data center.

Why it matters

Fit-out permits are where data center spend turns into trade work. Two more permits cover fit-out of data halls: 2026-141003-CI, issued October 16 at $14.5 million for data hall space labeled SV12x-F2.3, and 2026-140996-CI, issued October 19 at $18.0 million for SV12x-F2.4. Electrical, mechanical and controls contractors in the South Bay can read the sequence as a phased build, with halls released one after another.

The numbers

The three permits total $80,859,073: $48,359,602, $18,000,000 and $14,499,471. The two data hall permits each cover 14,585 square feet, and the larger permit covers 43,317 square feet. Declared valuation is the filer’s estimate for permit fees, not what Equinix will spend or a sale price. All three permits carry the same owner entity and street address and are classified as commercial or industrial work. The largest is numbered in 2024, so the project has been in the city’s system for roughly two years, and the October issuance is a late step, not a new filing.

What’s next
