Twenty-one Houston-area projects of $5 million and up registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation from Sept. 29 to Oct. 12, 2026. By our tally they total $351,856,831. Brookshire South in Waller County leads at $60,000,000, and only five of the 21 sit in the City of Houston.

Why it matters

Contractors and suppliers read TDLR’s accessibility database (TABS, required for projects over $50,000) because it shows owner, cost and start date before a bid list circulates. The largest private retail row is H-E-B’s $20,000,000 Angleton remodel, sixth by cost. Angleton is in Brazoria County, not Houston.

TABS lists HEB Grocery Co LP as owner of the 27,122 sq ft renovation at 1239 E Mulberry in Angleton, with a start date of May 3, 2027 and completion on Jan. 10, 2028. That is a seven-month window for subcontractor outreach.

The set is lopsided. Five of the 21 projects are in the City of Houston and total $117,900,709. Harris County as a whole, including Spring, totals $178,989,983, and Waller County adds $93,750,000. Our Brookshire and Ella Boulevard TABS story covers two more rows, and the Houston market page has the rest.

Those eleven total $287,450,709 of the $351,856,831. Seven of the top eleven have a public owner. H-E-B’s is the only retail-store row in the eleven.

What’s next

H-E-B’s Angleton start is May 3, 2027, so a bid package would be expected well before then. TSU’s two registered projects list Oct. 9, 2026 start dates, so site work is already scheduled. We will rerun this tally on Oct. 27, 2026.
