Studio City Sports Facility Entitlement Heads to LA Council
A PLUM report on a Studio City sports facility entitlement, filed under Studio City Sports Center LLC, heads to LA Council on Oct. 20 and 21.
A PLUM Committee report on a Studio City sports facility entitlement, filed under the applicant name Studio City Sports Center LLC, cleared committee on Oct. 13, 2026, and is set for Los Angeles City Council consideration on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21. The two linked council files, CF 26-1081 and CF 26-1081-S1, cover a Vesting Tentative Tract and a separate Project Review for a parcel at 12501 W Ventura Blvd in Council District 4, under case number CPC-2025-5697-DB-PR-SPPC-MCUP-VHCA.
The entity name has drawn attention locally because Harvard-Westlake School’s large River Park athletic complex, a short distance away in Studio City, has been reported nearing completion this year. That project, however, was approved by the City Council in November 2023, a separate and already-decided action. Nothing in the CF 26-1081 case file or the companion planning case identifies Studio City Sports Center LLC as a Harvard-Westlake entity, and no business filing or officer record search tied the two together. This article reports only what the land-use record itself shows: an applicant named Studio City Sports Center LLC is pursuing a density bonus entitlement at a Studio City address, and the claim that it is linked to Harvard-Westlake remains unconfirmed.
Why it matters
A Vesting Tentative Tract paired with a Project Review and a density bonus case (the “DB” suffix in CPC-2025-5697-DB-PR-SPPC-MCUP-VHCA) signals a subdivision-scale entitlement, not a routine permit. Whoever Studio City Sports Center LLC turns out to be, the applicant is working through the same PLUM-to-Council process that market-rate housing and mixed-use developers use, on a recreation-themed project in a neighborhood where large institutional sports facilities already draw community scrutiny. Builders and planners tracking density bonus activity in the San Fernando Valley should watch how this entitlement, and its unusually opaque applicant name, resolves at Council.
The numbers
Two council files are moving together: CF 26-1081 covers the Vesting Tentative Tract, and CF 26-1081-S1 covers the Project Review, both tied to case ENV-2025-5698-SE and CPC-2025-5697-DB-PR-SPPC-MCUP-VHCA. The underlying case was filed Oct. 14, 2025, accepted for planning review in March 2026, and reached PLUM Committee on Oct. 13, 2026, about one year after filing. Both council files are calendared for the full Council on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, 2026.
What’s next
The PLUM Committee report recommends Council action on both files, but no final vote has occurred as of this writing. If the Council approves the Vesting Tentative Tract and Project Review at either of the Oct. 20 or Oct. 21 sessions, the entitlement becomes final and the applicant’s identity and project scope should surface in the recorded Council action. A similarly structured density bonus case in Hollywood is working through its own appeal at PLUM, covered in CIM Group’s 6007 Sunset Blvd appeal.
