Tomball ISD has registered a $19 million indoor practice facility for Tomball High School, the first dollar figure attached to the three activity centers voters funded in May 2025. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation record filed Oct. 23, 2026, lists a 70,000 sq ft building at 118 Baker Dr. designed by Houston-based architecture firm PBK, with construction set to run from Jan. 11, 2027 to May 5, 2028.

Why it matters

The TABS filing is the first hard number tied to Proposition D, the $76.7 million slice of Tomball ISD’s $429.1 million May 2025 bond earmarked for multi-program activity centers at its three high schools. The centers let athletics, band, cheerleading and drill team practice indoors year-round. For Houston-area contractors, it is the first priced package out of that bond. Tomball High is the district’s prototype; Tomball Memorial and Tomball West are slated to follow on separate construction windows through 2029.

The numbers

The registration puts the Tomball High building at $19 million against the Prop D total of $76.7 million for all three campuses, meaning the other two centers still carry roughly $57.7 million in unregistered scope. The scope of work on file covers the practice floor plus an entry lobby, a small conference room, and mechanical and storage space. No general contractor is listed yet in the TDLR record.

What’s next

With design work by PBK already attached to the filing and a January 2027 start date, the next public marker will be a construction contract naming the GC, typically disclosed when the district’s board approves a guaranteed maximum price. More on the district’s build-out is tracked on the Houston market hub.
